Cash Assistance

The Blackfeet General Assistance Program is a cash assistance program to enrolled members of the Blackfeet Tribe, or an enrolled member of an Alaska Native Tribe, Band, Nation, Pueblo Village, or community which is recognized for the special programs and services provided by the United States of the status as Indians. Living on or near the reservation.

The General Assistance program was created to help tribal members living on or near the reservation who do not have access to sufficient resources to meet their basic needs.

As a Blackfeet Tribal program, we believe that all people have a right to food, clothing, shelter, and utilities. On a cultural level, we also believe that individuals have a right to maintain their dignity, be self-sufficient, and receive an open and helping hand when needed.

As a tribal people, we believe that our responsibility is to each other. It is with this spirit that we hope to find members where they are and lift them up.

Redetermination Reviews

Reviews take place

  • Every three months for individuals who are not exempt from seeking employment.
  • Every six months for individuals who are medical exempt.
  • Whenever there is a change in status.

How it works

Redetermination is an evaluation by a Social Service Worker to Assess the need for continued Financial Assistance. This includes:

  • A Home Visit
  • An estimate of income
  • Living circumstances
  • Household composition for the month(s) for which financial assistance is to be provided.
  • Appropriate revisions to the case plan and individual Self-Sufficiency Plan.
